Search Design Inspiration

Hey Guys,

Where do you get your inspiration for your website designs and features?

I use a few websites such as Tutsplus.com Tutorial9.net and my cloest competitiors to see what they are doing.

Michael

I either look outside, go to the beech (I live in a seaside village just outside dundee) or look at other website (not steal, just look how they have done things)

I take photos when I am on holiday, I have built up a little portfolio almost of holiday photos that I get loads of great ideas from.

For example, when I was in St Andrews I took some pictures of some odd little hills they have round there. Where I'm from hills are not very steep at all, but in St Andrews they seem to be a little more....dumpy. Anyway, I am using that as a basis for one of the logos I am designing at the moment to build my portfolio.

I also find looking through magazines and day dreaming helps a lot.

I get some inspiration for things to put on the pages from other sites, and get design ideas from templatemonter and the like. I grab tid-bits of ideas and modify them into a custom design :)

Nate Berkus is awesome. Try searching his name or looking for his work on Oprah.com.
He has so many great ideas. Also, look for O at Home magazine. Great ideas that aren't expensive!
