What is your preference? Design your own marketing and sales pieces, or farm it out to a vendor?

I do my own. I have a sales background and I took a web related course.

Good deal. Do you have software you use or perhaps use the stsndard Office software to create the layouts?

I have the printshop pro. 10 and use their basic template to start. When I get done it the layout is totally my own.
