I was doing some work a couple of years ago, the guy wrote the content 'himself'.
A couple of months later he received a letter from another company's solicitor giving 7 days to remove the content. Adam

We heard nothing else after I removed the content. I assume they have to give you chance to remove the content before the formalities.

I don't think they would want to peruse legal actions. They would be desperate if they did, it takes time and money for these things so the thing they want to do is just politely try and solve with words.

I'd suggest that it depends on the size of the corporation. If, you steal stuff off the BBC website... they'd probably make an example of you.

I myself have not had issues, but I hear of it here and there.
Also for some information on the laws regarding the use of copyrighted materials and the legal actions associated with the fraud of such materials, can be found by some searches for the DMCA Act. I remember I read an excellent guide about the DMCA once, I believe it was authored by Faken. Here it is.
