Breeding to make money

Does anyone breed Animals to make money? My sister has two full bloodied German Shepherds and has been breeding the female once a year. She makes a nice income as she sells the puppies for $400 each and usually has at least 7-11 to sell at a time. $4000 is a nice little extra income. I just worry that some of these puppies may make it into a rescue or a pound one day. I hope not.

I don't do that but I was watching this show on TV where two people were interviewed because that's what they did for a living. This one lady had a house full of prized cats. She'd enter them in competitions and breed the winners. Then sell their kittens for a hefty sum of money. She basically spends the day grooming the cats and playing with them. Not a bad life.
