Investing in mutual funds or real estate????

Hi friends, I am thinking of investing my money in some mutual funds and was really confused about that. My cousins have been stressing on investing in real estate properties and they say that it is more beneficial than investing in any mutual funds. But when I have a look at some of the instances on properties I find that a bit risky. I need you people to justify on that so I can make my decisions from your suggestions.

Yes, there are many options to go for investing and especially when you have the good budget for that. I cannot say that for a particular investment like mutual funds or real estate but I would like to tell you that when my friend had invested in real estate he was also not sure of the profits there but he recently had his real estate deals from IRA-401K and he was quite pleased with his investing. There are many things that you can look up in investing in real estate and I think that it will be profitable for you too.

Well, you've got a few questions to ask yourself. Are you looking for long term or short term gains? What sort of risk are you willing to take?

Since you seem to not know so much, the general rule I can give you is, Real Estate can be great short term but much riskier. Today, there are a ton of forclosures and homes on the market .. almost more than what's being bought. Generally, home are overpriced well more than they should be. the best thing to do in this situation is find a nice family home in a well spotted location and flip it.


Mutual funds is my kind of thing :) If you're in it for more than 5 years there's, a safe to say, no loss that can come from it. With the Money market, as a general rule over time, the value of the dollar and market goes up. It's just what History has shown. The only work and time spent thinking about when investing in mutual funds is, the money managment you will be handing your hard earned dollar to. The biggest thing for me when looking into it is look at their long term track record, has their annual rate of return be consistent or even risen each year? Just take your time and check it out.

I enjoy my mutual funds because I know I'm garunteed an amazing amount of money for hardly no work at all for when I'm older. Real Estate is something I'd like to get into after I've made my mark as an entrepeneur

If you are looking for long-term investing, and it sounds like you are, I would say that EITHER investment would work.

The advantage with mutual funds is that you can invest gradually, whereas with real estate investing you usually have to come up with more money upfront at once.

Forex trade is a good market and when you get the right broker on your side, it is a plus point. My brother is involved in the forex market and he deals with quite a few so I don’t really know which ones he is onto. But, he takes the forex brokers from an online list where they can be sorted according to their country and trading platform. I hope that you will get considerable help from this list.
