Default Google - An Inferior Search Engine?

Quote:
Yahoo wants to change your mind about its search engine. It wants you to know that it is better at helping you find things thanks to features like its SearchAssist auto-complete keywords (which has been around for a year), safe searching filters, and Search Monkey add-ons. So it is launching a campaign with display ads like the one on the left for the Web and radio spots as well trying to paint Google’s search engine as an inferior product—a place where people go to get lost.
Yahoo will have to do a lot more to convert me!

Hi Michael :)

I still believe Google is used more often than Yahoo will ever be.
The numbers don't lie :)

I personally feel that Google is much superior in its searching capabilities. Instead of going for a negative advertisements Yahoo must look to optimize its performance.

yes, we all saw what negative advertising did to John McCain.
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

And I did not even vote for Obama.

The numbers of people using or believing something doesn't mean it isn't inferior. It is a tool that they have grown accustomed to.

For me, Google is a good, basic search engine when I need to boost traffic passing by the link to my website, but if I want to have a decent ROI, I have to reach my target market.

I have found that easier to do with alternative search engines and blogs.

yes, that is a great point you raise.

still, the original post poses a question of comparison between Google and Yahoo.

Good point, Florentin.

I really don't do much with Yahoo. I focus my first efforts on Google then shift toward other promotion venues on a regular basis.

Yahoo just doesn't have the clout that Google does, even though I don't feel that Google is all that great for target marketing..
