The Internet , e-marketing, and e-commerce can make a lot of money for you. You need to have a niche to fill, then design, buy, or represent as an affiliate a product or products to fill that niche.
As we go through this section, we'll refer you to examples of successful web sites. Every web site reviewed here is successful because they found a niche to fill and found or created products or services to fill that niche! That said, how does one go about starting a business online? There are five general types of internet businesses that you can start. * A portal site or a portal that sells digital products. * A content web site that is monetized with advertising. * An e-commerce business that sells a digital product. * An e-commerce business that ships tangibles to people. * A business to business and/or service-selling web site.

As Joe Michael said, when you are working within a market that you enjoy being a part of, time and energy don't really have as much weight to them, because you enjoy giving time and energy to that subject.
That being said, finding a subject and corresponding market that you relate with is not the only step in building a successful online business. The first and most critical step - find your market. Who will you be selling to? Where do they hang out on the web? Does that market have a track record of buying things on the internet? All of these questions need to be answered first. In other words, don't find an affiliate product or create a product first, and then go and find some people to buy it. This is a recipe for failure. Find your market, your customers, understand what they desire and then fill that want with a valuable product that either you create or promote as an affiliate. There are different effective ways of entering a market as opposed to, "Hey, it seems like you want this, here it is!" That approach will generally not work, but I'm not going into those details here. -Abhay |

Make sure you know what type of business you want to start. There are a lot of ways to earn money online, but one of the problems that internet marketers deal with is lacking focus. Use a business plan and stick to it. Set goals. I think this is applicable to any type of business too.

As kerry19 already said you can earn money by selling or renting advertising space on your site, or sell your own products. There are some tools available that can help you get started and trigger some more ideas. For example action-guide.sitesell.com, becomeablogger.com, stevepavlina.com.

Internet-Based Business: Start up Rules
Pre-packaged programs only work as much as you can customize it and make it unique and your own. Even then, techniques that work for one niche won’t work in all niches. Be wary of any “system” that promises instant results (especially anything that sounds like a get-rich-quick scheme!) Knowing the basics of html, SEO (search engine optimization), social media marketing, website marketing and traditional marketing and sales are a must. Every business is made stronger by specializing in a tight niche. Know your audience and stick to it. Unless you have a brilliant tech idea that makes venture capitalists drool (which means you don’t need this list), you need to determine where your strengths are and which business model you plan on following. I have run three home-based businesses in my life, all of which leveraged my current skill set as the foundation for building the business. Look over the following list and single out the ones in which you have at least some experience. You probably won’t have all of the skills necessary, so don’t let that stop you! All you have to do is work hard and be willing to learn. |
