Are Social Networks Still A Good Idea?

Hello guys I am currently building a social network and so far so good most people i have talked to about it feel its a good idea but honestly shouldnt I be scared of all the other ones around? No I am not scared at all the truth and success behind social networks is the idea behind it. It has to be about something before your social network can be really considered you need to have a strong idea behind it. Another plus that you could have is combining the power of all other social networks with it. Like adding every damn thing that you can find to pick up to it. I believe with the right people around you a SOCIAL NETWORK is just about the right thing to do for yourself

I say go for it; who cares about those other guys, if it works they maybe try and buy out because they may well be scared of where you Social Network is heading. So go for it!

Sounds like a plan Bambo! I would be careful to offer to much because you would confuse the user. Do something really good is better than a lot of things just alright.

look for something unique to offer, just do a bit of brain storming and you should come up with something those other social networks don't offer.

I completely agree with you. Go for it but see that your network should be more attractive and interesting than other ones.

The social network system system must be carefully designed and especially designed for a specific niche, if you're trying to replicate Facebook, chances are, it'll be a dud. Not to discourage you or anything but because I've personally seen many who have tried and failed.

The system must be different, it must attract enough attention..and it must be easy to use and easy to spread. You'll need a "Tell A Friend Script" installed so that everyone who's going to use your system will send emails automatically to their own friends and grow your social site.

I agree with that. Do something very specific, but do it very well. (Twitter is a good example!!!)
