Default promoting a website through social networks

Does anyone have any advice on promoting through social networks? I currently advertise through different mediums but would like to learn the ins and outs of social networks. Any tips? are there any good blogs dedicated to learning social networking? any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have heard a lot about Social Networks and driving traffic but never felt it was something I wanted to do. I met a guy with over 2 Million Myspace friends and he would send bulletins about affiliate products to earn money.

Here's a post I found: Making money and driving traffic using myspace | General Specifics

Thankyou for providing the link Michael. I was wondering about how to go about this too, I am wanting to explore it as a possible way of marketing, it's definately given me something to chew over.

Good topic here! :)

How I use Twitter (one of the social media besides others like Plurkme Pownce Tumblr Zazzle, etc)

For example, a few days ago I twitted about LeafCutterDesigns cos they make the world's smallest letters. And I also twitted about a guy's video (I twitted his URL link) - he talks super fast like a rapid gun but he speaks very clearly and is quite cute, And then yesterday I twitted about my revelation of the world's biggest lies.

Twitter also auto-twits the music I play on Blip.fm/QuteKelly - that keeps music-lovers updated on new and past music by different music artists, and so forth.

You can post twits (short messages) from your mobile phone and your twit will appear in Twitter's public time-line (front page). Your followers can also choose to receive your twitted messages on their mobile.

It works both ways. For the people who follow you and for those you follow.

Your readers are human and want to know more of YOU! What you had for dinner, what you saw or read, what you experienced, all of those can be twitted. You can keep "the more personal stuff" at Twitter without "upsetting" style of your current blog.

Twitter allows instant communication with your followers and 'followees' without use of instant messenging. Without installation of software.

If you wanna know more and get the list of hundreds of social media URLs and stuff etc, feel free to download this free pdf ebook I got from another Twitter. eBook can be read with the free Adobe Acrobat reader downloadable here.
