Budget for marketing

I want to hear answers for two questions. One for a small business starting on a small marketing budget, do you think allocating $ 500 will produce any results and the second one is that which budget will be good to start for a small site.

It really depends on what the website is about, different sites will cost a lot more to promote. $500 can go a long way in some niches, what niche are you in?
