What are some of your best SEO tip?

I used to think that building link exchanges was the best thing for SEO, but I have come to realise that for me personally, it is:

- having great content
- good keyword density
- Regularly updated content
- Write heaps of articles and submit the to the top article directories

Along with submitting to directories, make some ebooks with your websites links in it, and distribute it for free on net. You can also make small videos and submit it to you tube. Submit links/news from your websites to social networking sites like digg.com, delicio.us, blurp, v0v.com and other similar sites.

i have been trying these but i am not getting the desired output, may i am having some problems with keywords and discriptions.
does it really matters that mata tag discription should go hand in hand with the keywords used
if any one can suggest me something ,please help

This may sound like a dumb question but what is SEO? I been trying to figure that out for awhile now. I am kind of new at making blogs but I think it has something to do with them .

Best tip for SEO - research. Before doing anything research what keywords you are tagetting, how many searches they get a day, how much competition they have for broad match, phrase match and how many competitors are using the keyword in their page titles (use intitle:keyword search in google). Go for the keywords with ratios of high searches to low competition that relate to your niche.
